YAY for Productive Weekends!

This weekend was busy, but good! After gymnastics on Saturday morning we spent the day continuing to prep for the party. Denis made some stuff, I made some stuff, we decluttered the house a bit more, and decorated a bit more.

Yesterday was church followed by more baking and more decorating after we got home from lunch. We decided to supplement our outdoor decorations with floodlights, and now have three floodlights aimed at the house to really make it stand out. It looks really nice, but I dred what our electric bill will be next month. Our gas bill already tripled from last month because we have been running the heat and fireplace. Our electric bill has been headed downhill now that we’ve hit colder weather, but add in the Christmas lights and floodlights and I predict it won’t go down anymore for the next six weeks. But it looks nice, so we’ll say it’s worth it. Denis also adjusted the outdoor timer so the lights go off at 10:30 p.m. instead of midnight.

My cold sore is getting better. It expanded to my lower lip by Saturday morning, but I was diligent with the Zilactin and Blistex, and as of this morning the bottom lip is completely healed and the upper lip is discolored but should be back to normal no later than Wednesday if I keep applying the Blistex while at work today.

So my mom bought us a new vacuum for all the work we’ve done with her tea business, and it should be arriving today. VERY excited about that because ours is pretty rough at this point and needs to go to Vacuum Heaven. It’s not a Dyson, but is still a bagless upright – according to my mom and dad, Dyson, while a popular top-of-the-line vacuum, is not actually the best. My dad is just like me in that he does a LOT of research to make sure he’s buying the best thing he can buy, and in his research he determined that the Kenmore bagless is the better vacuum. So that’s what is arriving at our house today. WOO HOOO!!!!

And don’t tell anybody, but I think I’m going to call in sick on Thursday so that I can get the house cleaned and continue prepping for the party on Saturday. Denis will be out all day with his pal Ed who is flying in that afternoon, so the timing is perfect. It’s going to be a great weekend. A couple people have had to back out of attending the party, but we still should have about 25 people, which rocks.

I think my 25% last-minute, party back-out percentage is coming true. LOL Still should be a good time. We have to invite our next door neighbors still. Unless you did that yesterday while you were on the phone with her.

No, I didn’t do that. I figure at this point it’s only a week away and it’s probably better NOT to invite them so they don’t think it’s a last minute mercy invite. But I’ll call her if you want.

Jaynee to Neighbor: Hey listen are putting a Holiday party together for this weekend and would love to know if you can make it.

    Neighbor: Yes/No

    Jaynee: Great!

People wont care and if they can’t make it they will think its nice that you took the time to invite them. Don’t be like our neighbors who had a Halloween Party and didn’t think to invite the new people. I mean we saw all the cars and costumes and only cursed them for a few days following.

You know we’re driving down on Friday, right? I think we should be on the road by 3pm or so. It’s Beau’s last day of classes, but I’m taking the day off.

    Ace: good point.

Jen: Yes, I know that. Ted/Anne and Ed will both be heading to friends’ and a hotel on Friday night, respectively.
