So I’ve met Jhames!! He came to my office and we went to lunch (Chinese for me, sushi for him). His friend Enid joined us – she was very nice. Jhames in person is JUST how he comes across online – wonderful, sweet, cute, and every other positive adjective I’m supposed to come up with and can’t just now.
We tried to get Enid to come to my office for pie, but she begged off and went back to her office for a tasty nuked Lean Cuisine. She should have come for the pie.
It was rather tasty (if I do say so myself). I had never made a strawberry-rhubarb pie before, so I had no idea how it would turn out. The crust was GREAT (you know, flaky and delish). I put cloves in the pie filling, which wasn’t in the recipe I used, and it kicked it up so that it was a spicy strawberry-rhubarb pie. Mmmm…
I didn’t have a slice of the chocolate pie I made, but the folks in my office that had it said it was great. What’s funny is that normally they are vultures when it comes to our pies, but today the folks were scarce. Turns out they were all outside enjoying the wonderful weather. Jhames left to tromp around the city some more and within five minutes the pies were completely gone – it was like a whirlwind in that kitchen! I think they were all on their best behavior since “company” was here. Pfft on their need to be fancy and polite when strangers are around.
