What’s With The Accent?

We think CootieBoy has a budding southern accent. It’s most notable when he says the word “again”. To most people, the word “again” has two syllables. Phonetically: Uh-GHEN. However, when CootieBoy says it, it has three syllables and is very reminiscent of how my grandmother, from practically backwoods-southern Virginia, would say certain words.

CootieBoy says uh-GAY-uhn.

“Do that uh-GAY-uhn!” he cries joyously when I throw him up in the air and catch him before he goes underwater at the pool. “Do that uh-GAY-uhn!” he yells when I tackle him on the living room floor and cover his face in kisses.

The other word he phrase he says that I love?

“That’s so cute.”

Because he doesn’t just say CUTE, he says “kuh-yute.”

The other kuh-yute thing he says? Kittycatty. After all, since dogs are puppydoggies, it makes sense that the felines are kittycatties.
