What Would You Do If You Won?

So the Powerball is up to $240 million for tomorrow night’s drawing. For those in South Carolina we get to take home $77.5M as the final prize. Nice chunk of change.

I haven’t done a lottery dream post in a while, so I thought I’d throw one out there.

1) 10% Tithe to our former church in NJ ($7,750,000)
2) 10% gifts to various charities ($7,750,000)
3) Trusts for CootieGirl and CootieBoy, paid out in thirds on 25th, 30th and 35th birthdays. ($10,000,000)
4) Real estate investments in SC and NYC ($5,000,000)
5) Annual $12,000 gifts to close friends and family for five years ($5,000,000)
6) Pay off my parents’ mortgage & cash gift
7) Pay off Denis’ sister’s mortgage & cash gift
8) Buy house for sister and family & cash gift
9) Buy condo for Denis’ brother & cash gift
10) Trusts for three nephews paid out in thirds on 25th, 30th and 35th birthdays ($9,000,000)
11) Buy acreage in SC and build custom home ($1,000,000)
12) Invest Invest Invest the rest and live off the interest (about $30,000,000 at even just 4% gain per year is still $1,200,000 per year to live on).

Wow. $1.2M per year to live on. That’s an amazing thought, isn’t it? Especially when you consider the house would have no mortgage, the kids’ financial future would be covered, not to mention college. Ah, lottery dreams. They are fun, aren’t they?

What would you do with it?

OOOOOOOOoooooook. . .Remember the pool? And the dinners on the deck? And the time Denis rang the doorbell and handed 17-year old Brandon his baby CootieGirl and said “Jaynee should be home in about 10 minutes. Thanks!!” And left! And remember nearly killing me at your White Elephant party? And making fun of my tulips? huh? Wow–I really DO miss you guys!
