This morning I found myself at the Anne Springs Close Greenway checking out one of the barns as a location for the trunk show I’m hosting in September. The space turned out to be a little far off the beaten path as far as location, but the space is awesome – very rustic and, well, a BARN. There’s definitely enough space for the 10 vendors I hope to have, as well as a private bathroom and a little makeshift kitchen area for any food prep we need. VERY COOL. So I put down the refundable deposit and confirmed the date. Now I just need to make sure I have ten vendors (I have seven thus far) in order to reduce the cost-per-person.
Once done there I headed down the road with CootieGirl to an Etsy picnic being hosted by a Carolina Etsyan. We only stayed a couple hours, but it was a lot of fun and they were all really nice people. Two of those people are already confirmed to participate in the trunk show, and one of the ladies I met is one that I had approached via email about participating. I’m hoping that now that she met me she’ll be more open to participating.
CootieGirl and I got home and found Denis and CootieBoy out, but they arrived home only 10-15 minutes after us. We all hung out for a while and then Denis took CootieGirl to the grocery store while CootieBoy and I chilled at home together.
Then we headed to the pool – all four of us. Of course, Denis didn’t get in, but CootieGirl did, and I did and CootieBoy did. CootieBoy was amazing. Any hesitation he had last year as a 1 1/2 year old is gone now that he’s 2 1/2. He had floaties on his arm as well as a lifevest, which helped him float. And he was like a freakin’ FISH in that water. From the moment he got in he was off like a shot swimming and didn’t want me even CLOSE to touching him while he did it. That made CootieGirl more bold as well, and she actually allowed me to dunk her under the water and she didn’t make a peep of protest. The only thing was when she came up, she wiped the water from her eyes and said, “I don’t want to do that again,” but it wasn’t in a whiny way – just in a matter-of-fact way. However, when I had her jump in the pool later she had no issues with going under water as she jumped in the pool. Her only requirement was that I definitely hold at least ONE of her hands when she jumped in. CootieBoy, on the other hand, had no problem jumping in unaided, and didn’t care that he went under when he jumped in. He is DEFINITELY gonna be fun to take to the pool this summer and his enthusiasm makes me want to go every night from now until the pool closes.
Now we are home, the kids are very hungry after their time at the pool, and after dinner I know they’ll pass out in their beds.
My mission tomorrow is to do booth stuff. Fortunately church is right near the Target, so I can pick up the tables after church. And if they don’t have enough I’ll go to the Target up here near the state line and pick up more. Then it’s a quick trip to Home Depot or Lowe’s to pick up pegboard, and then I can put up the tent and see what I can muster together.
In other news, I got the last of my fleece orders that I made. I now have enough fleece to make four adult-size blankets and 6-7 children’s blankets. I’ll do at least one children’s blanket on Monday night. Tuesday night is my bookclub, and Wednesday night is music practice. But if I can get one done on Monday nightand then an adult one on Thursday/Friday, then I’ll have a good headstart on having enough for the June market the following Thursday.
And that’s it on our end for now. It’s a good weekend thus far.
