Today we were originally going to go to the GWU Homecoming game, but when I found out that our friends were going to be working during the game, I figured we’d take a pass and just meet up with them at a later date. So instead we decided to take a chance on the weather and go to a couple fall festivals in our area.
We left the house at 10:30 a.m. to go to the Tega Cay Festival, at which I was a vendor last year (and sold a couple blankets and a painting). I opted not to be a vendor this year, but wanted to go check out the event anyway. As we drove into Tega Cay the sign said the festival had been cancelled. Don’t know why – it was wetter LAST year than it was this morning, and it still went on. My shoes were cakes in mud by the time I got my booth up last year.
We flipped the car around and drove over to the Rivergate Festival which was at the Rivergate shopping center in Steele Creek. We got there 10 minutes before it was due to start and almost NOTHING had been set up. It was very strange and I wondered if it was going to be a big bust. In the end, they pulled it together and the kids got to pick out and decorate a free pumpkin, enjoyed a magic show for a few minutes, went on a hay ride AND a train ride, got some free candy, and enjoyed some ice cream. They also got free aprons from Home Depot with their names on them – great for future messy crafts at the house.
After some lunch we headed over to Marshall’s to buy CootieGirl some new tights, but the store drove me nuts and the prices weren’t that great, so we left and went to Target, where the store was much more organized AND had better prices. The kids needed new winter PJs because the ones they have are getting pretty small. CG has a cute pink flannel PJ suit with kittens on it, and CootieBoy how has Batman PJs – complete with blinky bat symbol and cape. We bought a couple other things as well and then came home.
They had a good time and are now wearing their PJs even though it’s only 4 p.m. in the afternoon.
