Weddings – Do Me A Favor

Yesterday someone complimented the wedding photo I have on the shelf in my cubicle. They specifically liked my flowers (I did too). I told them how I had small half-bouquets on the pews at the church, and then arranged for the florist to put two together and put them in a vase to be used as wedding table decorations. It was perfect and she really did a great job – people had no idea they were the same half-bouquets from the church!

Our reception was very quiet and reserving – a sit down brunch (our wedding was at 11 a.m.). We had a pianist playing softly in the corner. We didn’t have a raucous post-wedding party, for a couple of reasons: 1) the wedding being early in the day as opposed to at night, 2) my husband doesn’t dance, and 3) if I had been able to get a dj to play the kind of music *I* wanted (house and techno music), 90% of the people would have run out covering their ears. *lol*

After the wedding, my mother had several flowers from my bouquest pressed and framed along with our wedding announcement. I love that picture and it’s one of the first ones I hung in our house.

As for our favors, we went the traditional route and wrapped handfuls of jordan almonds into netting and tied with a bow. We thought about doing other things, but that was simple and easy to do. Nowadays people get crazy and creative with their wedding favor ideas! Whether it’s a CD of favorite tunes, or shot glasses, or silver matchboxes, people nowadays always have something unique and fun.

Either way, I loved our wedding and for the most part wouldn’t change a thing.
