This morning I left at 8:08 a.m. for work. I left earlier than normal because I knew I had to fill up at the gas station. But I still left about 7 minutes sooner than I had to.
And it’s a good thing.
At the gas station I put up the automatic shut-off lever so that when the tank was full the handle would release – you know the thing I’m talking about. Anyway, I’m sitting in my car waiting to hear the “click” of the automatic shut-off releasing. Instead I eventually heard the sound of running water. I open my door and look back and see gas gushing from my gas tank – the shut-off lever didn’t shut off!! I quickly got out and undid it, but the back half of my car was sitting in a puddle of gasoline. I went into the shop and told them there was a gas spill, and a few moments later a woman came out to throw the gas absorption rocks around my car.
I said, “Can I get some water or something to rinse off my car since my tire is covered in gasoline?”
“Go inside and tell the guy that I authorized a car wash for you,” she said as she continued to throw the rocks down.
A few minutes later I began driving my spotlessly clean car to work, arriving at exactly 9:00 a.m.!!!
Oh, and gas this morning was only $2.09 for regular unleaded. LOVING THAT.
Not really part of today’s theme, but I just read an article in the Courier News that has you written all over it– there is a a website that is having a contest to guess the shows in the new fall lineup that will get the ax and in what order. The website is brilliantbutcancelled (dot) com and the prize is a new video ipod. If you can’t win, it no one can!
*lol* Thanks! I’ll definitely go check that out!
