Victory

Look at that, people! I’m 20 pounds down!! I’m SO excited!!! You can tell by all the exclamation points I’m using!!!!

This morning was my doctor appointment for the medical weight loss study. I’ve now been on their medication 30 days and have also been on the 1,300 calorie restriction for 30 days. According to THEIR scale, I’ve lost 11 pounds in 30 days. Not only that, but my tech said that’s the new record in their office. Their previous record was something like eight pounds in the first month. So WOO HOO for me. I didn’t get a prize though. Only more pills. *lol*

I was surprised they didn’t have me meet with my nutritionist (the Karen Carpenter woman). But I guess since I lost the most weight they figured I didn’t need to.

The woman who did my blood draw once again had difficulties finding a vein. She tried three times and finally got something, but I have a bruise now. She hates it when she causes bruises and kept coming to check on me. The bruise really isn’t that bad, and I kept telling her not to worry about it. She also said she could tell I had lost weight when she saw me in the lobby. After the weight tech told me how much I lost, the blood tech said, “I didn’t want to say anything, because the last time I told a woman I could tell she had lost weight, she had actually gained a few pounds. So I didn’t want to say anything when I saw you in the lobby – but you look good.” Aw, thanks!

So yeah, I’m on cloud nine today. I reached 20 pounds (only ten more to go with nine weeks until our vacation)!!

The two drugs involved in the study are prescription-only drugs, so I would think the combo drug would also be prescription only.

You are an inspiration. I am betting that you’ll lose lots more than the 9 or 10 before vacation.

That’s great. And since it’s all about me, I’d like you to know, you are way ahead of me now in the weight loss race. I’m stuck at 15.5 pounds. I was two pounds lighter two or three days ago, but I keep wavering in the same range for the past week or more. Must stop snacking on pistachios.

Well, if you reduce it to 1500 calories every day – that equals a pound of weight lost per week (3500 calories equals one pound).

So it makes sense that I’m averaging 1.5 pounds a week since I’m reducing it another 1400 calories per week from there.
