Well last night at about 1:30 a.m. I was getting ready to go to bed after cleaning up the party mess, when I let Cooper outside. After a few minutes I let him back in, and found his cone covered in what looked like red wine or juice. I went to wipe it off, and more appeared. I wiped that off – and yet more appeared. Turns out – his incision was leaking fluid!! GROSSSSSSSSSSSSS….I grabbed a couple paper towels thinking that’s all I’d need. Not so much.
I quickly made him go upstairs to his bed and grabbed a clean washcloth. Glad I did – I ended up draining about 1/2 of fluid from his incision. As I described it a second ago, it looked like like pink water than actual blood or pus. There was just a LOT of it. Fortunately, my actions didn’t seem to hurt him at all so much as annoy him (he doesn’t like being held down). So I finished draining what I could, put the cone collar back on him, and went to bed.
This morning I checked him again and it was already filled up with another 1/4 cup of fluid, which I drained. So obviously I’ll be taking him back to the vet tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. to have it looked at. Because SOMETHING ain’t healing right in there.
