A couple months ago I was lamenting the fact that in 2008 I had only read nine books thus far. That’s pretty bad considering last year I read 23 books. However, I’m happy to report that I’m now up to 12 books read. Of course, it helps that I read 3 Nora Roberts books all in a row. Those are quick reading.
But hey – a book is a book!
Which reminds me – I need to get my hands on a copy of my book club’s book for August. That’s “due” in three weeks. I doubt I’ll get a chance to read it before we meet, since the book I started today is BIG (Saffron Skies by Lesley Lokko which comes in at 613 pages). But I should still get a copy of the book club book to have on hand for the meeting.
I know you’re a music gal, but audiobooks are great. Especially since you have an mp3 player – you can download them from your library for free.
I managed to finish a short (it was abridged, which I do not recommend) book in two days by listening to it at work.
I have no interest in audiobooks. I like the feel of a book in my hand. Besides, my commute is next to nothing (it was less than 15 min this morning) – it would take me FOREVER to listen to a book if I did that.
And I can’t very well listen to it at work – my music is on for white noise for the most part, and while I know the songs playing and sometimes sing along in my head, I’m not “actively” listening like I would have to if I was listening to a book.
