When we were in Scotland back in March one of the shows Denis and I enjoyed watching was “Top Gear,” which isn’t the kind of show we would typically watch. We’re not car buffs at all. But for some reason we both really enjoyed watching this show, which features celebrity guests doing laps at a speed course and various attempts to make cars do things they shouldn’t.
How excited am I that BBC America is FINALLY airing this show? I have Tivo’d a couple episodes (which ironically, probably originally aired in Scotland around the time we were visiting given the fact that Simon Pegg was on promoting “Hot Fuzz”), and the show is just as fun as I remembered. Think of it as “Mythbusters” but only for cars.
Last night’s episode also featuring the boys attempting to turn a Renault Robin (a 3-wheeled car that is made fun of in the U.K. as much as Yugos were the butt of every joke in the U.S.) into a space shuttle. Yes, a space shuttle. F UNNY FUNNY stuff.
So if you get BBC America, I advise you to see if you can catch an episode. You’ll be happy you did!
OH MY GOODNESS! My husband and I love that show. He is such a car buff and while I enjoy a nice car I’m not nearly as enthused as he is, but this show is definately something we both enjoy. I just think that the combination of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and Brian Mays is hysterical.
