Last night when I arrived home from work I found CootieBoy and CootieGirl playing with their new toys. CB wanted to “ride his bike” (the tv video game) but I talked him out of it and he happily began playing with his ScoobyDoo punching bag and his toy cars. CG went to the store with Denis to buy baking supplies and then made cupcakes – although it was really Denis making them while she watched. She’s a bit of a mess when she tries to “help.” He did let her stir the batter once the cake powder was completely mixed in. They made Angel Food Cupcakes (a recipe in her new EZ-bake cookbook) and they look pretty miserable. Certainly not like the picture in the book. But she had fun wearing her chef hat and apron to the store.
I gave CB the new animals for his farm and he went all Blair Witch on them and laid all of the animals on their sides like a massive Jim Jones suicide pact (do you like my mixed pop culture references?).
We then watched CB’s new VeggieTales video – the Wizard of Ha’s. Since they like Wizard of Oz, this was an easy choice to buy. They seemed to like it and we’ll know for sure if that’s what CB asks to watch tonight when I get home. Getting ready for bed, CG asked for Denis to read her new Gigi book to her, which was the second night in a row for that one.
So it’s nice to see that the kids are enjoying their toys.
Tonight I’ll be going into CB’s room to condense things a bit more – I’m going to give Jen the other four-drawer toy cubbie that matches the one I gave her a few months ago. I’ll also remove one of his bookshelves. This will give him a LOT more floorspace for his new toys. I’m also thinking about rearranging his room to create a true “play area” – haven’t quite decided on that yet, but I know it’ll happen in the next couple of weeks.
To be fair, we didn’t finish off those cubcakes. They are supposed to have whipped cream and coconut flakes on top. I was going to do that after they cooled but the kids went to bed before we could do that. Maybe tonight.
And that’s cupcakes. Not cubcakes. Sorry.
Thanks in advance for the stuff for Jesse. Now I have to figure out where to put it all. =)
Cool, you used Blair Witch and Jim Jones in the same sentence all while talking about Barn Yard Toys.. You rock!
Also, remind me never to read your blog from latest to earliest ever again. I got so confused… **reminds self to scroll down and read up next time**
Isn’t that the way it goes on MOST blogs – most recent post first? You just need to be better about checking in more often!
Jen – no problem. And don’t feel obligated to keep everything we bring down.
