To Tempt, or Not To Tempt

So I got off the phone with some at my old job a few minutes ago. Apparently my old company is having a slight problem with my replacement, Broadway Girl. She keeps disappearing for auditions and go-sees. Now, when I first approached her about replacing me, she told me that she was pretty much done with acting and wanted to actually have a full-time job. But apparently she’s been actively seeking theater work since starting there in July. This results in her taking her lunch at odd hours (either 9 a.m. or 3 p.m.) and being gone for 2-3 hours, or taking excessive days off.

What caused my “informant” to call me was that my old boss came out of his office today and asked him/herif I’d consider coming back.

:thud:

Which is EXTREMELY flattering. Let’s look at it this way, if I wasn’t doing well here at The Company, I’d probably go back in a heartbeat. Well, half a heartbeat – the main thing that would sway me against going back is the NYC commute. And while my old company offered a lot of perks (high pay, large bonuses, free lunch, excellent healthcare, fun atmosphere, no “Big Brother”), The Company also has perks (shorter daily commute and flexible hours being the main two worth talking about). And while The Old Company has MORE perks, the really important ones are at The New Company.

So I’ll stay where I am. It’s where I need to be.
