Tiring Weekend

I have a headache.

So Jen and Mom arrived on Friday evening for this weekend’s craft fair that I coordinated. The place where it was held ended up fitting 9 booths quite well – if I do it next year I may see if some additional vendors would like to do it and consider having outdoor booths (there are two spots that could be used for two outdoor vendors).

Sadly, we didn’t have much turnout. The major problem was that I didn’t have any real signage directing people to the show. I just ran out of time in the morning and wasn’t able to do anything – it was my mistake not getting them earlier in the week. A couple hours after the market started we did have balloons out there to kind of mark the entrance, but all told I think we got MAYBE 200 people passing through. Bummer.

However, all but one of the vendors had at least one sale (and the vendor that didn’t make a sale still had a lot of interest). I had some interest in my stuff, but no takers. But one of the other vendors took pity on me and bought one of my paintings before the end of the show. In her words, “The person putting this fair together CANNOT go the day without having a sale.” So technically I still say I went without a sale.

And it turns out that yesterday was just not a good craft market day. One of my vendors had another booth at another event taking place in Fort Mill yesterday, and she said that there was a very low turnout over there as well – and that event was even more publicized than mine was!

Upon arriving home we all just kind of vegged out after scarfing down some dinner (my first meal of the day). We flopped on the sofas and watched a movie (“The Great Raid” on AMC).

This morning Denis went to work the kids room at church while the kids and I went with Jen and Marmie to Cracker Barrel for breakfast.

The rest of the day today? Laundry and naps. And not necessarily in that order.
