Thoughtful Gifts

Today is my 39th birthday. To celebrate I took a vacation day today. I will be lounging at home during the morning and then will head out to get a facial at the local spa. Then I will lounge some more. I’m VERY excited.

This morning I was greeted with hugs, kisses and presents. And I got some awesome presents! From my husband and kids I got Wii stuff – specifically, the classic controller and the Wii version of Dance Dance Revolution! VERY excited! I also got some awesome chocolate goodies and a lovely thumbring. From my sister and her family I got a beautiful wirewrapped ring. I originally thought she had made it, but then I saw the business card tucked in the box. I had been all set to gush with praise over how quickly she learned to wirewrap rings!

From my uncle I got an amazingly lovely gift – a 1899 printing of the book “Cranford” by Elizabeth Gaskell. Actually, the book says it’s by “Mrs. Gaskell” – her first name isn’t even listed (click pic to expand)! That’s how old the book is! I’ll read it very gently and then put it on the shelf next to my extremely-old copy of “Tom Brown’s Schooldays,” another one of my favorite books. Thank you Uncle Bill!

My mom advised me that my parents’ gift was in three parts, and the first part was opened this morning (the other two have not arrived yet). She and Dad gave me a fun “frazzled Mom” book that will give me hints on how to remain a Mother in Grace while dealing with life, work, kids and everything else.

So it has been a nice morning. When I sign off here I plan on playing a little Lego Indiana Jones – I’m up to the “Opening the Ark” level and just needed to get past ONE more battle to finish that chapter. Alas, CootieBoy woke up crying right as I was getting near the end, so I had to close down the game before I finished. As I result, I have to start that chapter from scratch today. So I’m determined to beat it before I head out to the spa.

    Happy birfday!

I decided I’m not quite skilled enough to make a ring for you yet. I didn’t want to give you a sub-par piece just because I made it. =)

Don’t worry, Dad – I don’t feel 39. As I told Mom on the phone this morning, I feel like 31, so you’re good. 😆

Good! I’ll take that and take 8 years off my age, too. That works…

Hmmm, why do all the smileys show up in the comment box and then when I type in the comment box does this and the previous line show up outside the comment box?
