First let me say – I upgraded to WordPress 2.5 and I hate it. The image functionality is NOT WORKING and I’m surprised they released the new version without addressing all the issues. So if you use WordPress – do NOT upgrade yet. Wait a couple weeks for the kinks to be worked out.
Okay, so here is my third (and last) lovey for today. This time I attempted a lovey that has a handle. Knowing that I’m not good enough to do snaps and attachments yet, I had the thought last night that I could do a “built-in” handle – have it be IN the blanket, as opposed to attached.
This is made with fleece – both sides. It measures about 16×16 and is a decent first effort on the handle. I really just wanted to get it closed on this one, but now that I’ve gotten the hang of moving the piece all around the sewing machine surface, I want to see if I can do a zipper/buttonhole type of stitch all around the handle for a cleaner look.
This blanket will be (again) another gift – for yet another person I know that is having a baby in the next couple of months. I plan on cleaning up the handle – if I can do what I’m envisioning, I’ll post a new picture later tonight.
Love your loveys! I think the built in handle is a great idea.
Thanks, kbf! I’m hoping that I’ll be able to figure out the cleanest way to do it in the near future – I don’t know how much of a learning curve there will be to get the handles absolutely smooth.
Well if that’s your first attempt, it will be perfect in no time. It already looks great.
