The Weekend Itself

The weekend itself was quite nice. Baby Jesse is very cute – albeit VERY small!! – and CootieGirl did a good job holding him on Friday night (pictures to come as soon as my sister sends them to me since they were taken on her camera).

Lessons I learned or had reinforced this weekend:

1) I can’t take pictures worth squat. Seriously. I’m a horrible photographer. I’m the type that cuts the heads off people or misses the star on the top of the Christmas tree. My pictures are those that are always just slightly out of focus or a bit too close-up. I failed miserably in my task to take pictures of Baby Jesse.

2) Babies are cute, but unless they are mine, I don’t need to stare and coo at them all day long. That sounds horrible, but surely you get what I’m saying. I held Baby Jesse and did my thing, but after about twenty minutes of holding the sleeping babe, I was ready to move on. Does that make me a bad aunt? Not at all – I’ll be a GREAT aunt when that kid is about 2 years old and wants to use me as a personal jungle gym.

3) The best hot chocolate is that made with Torani drinking chocolate. The two best cups of hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my LIFE were at my parents’ church on Saturday night. I’m so on the hunt for it (the barista said she bought the stuff at World Market).

4) CootieGirl has an amazing memory and I hope she never does drugs and ruins that. On Saturday upon walking into my parents’ church, she exclaimed, “Jen’s wedding!” Last year when my sister got married it was in that church, and the huge cafe area was where the reception took place. I honestly don’t think CootieGirl has been back to the church since then (maybe ONCE last summer?), and she still remembered even a year later. That’s an amazing memory she has right there.

5) I would never have been a good La Leche mom. I tell ya, it’s not that I’m uncomfortable hearing about boobs all day long, I just don’t NEED to hear about boobs all day long. Boobs boobs boobs. It gets old. Thankfully, I only had to hear about a dozen boob conversations during the weekend. I’m sure it would have been twice that if I didn’t put my foot down and tell everyone to knock it off.

Torani is the brand. What flavor of syrup did the coffee person use? There are many to choose from.

Woops – I had linked to a recipe on the website that had the flavor listed. I’ll redo the link since it seems it didn’t “Stick”.
