Two stories to related, one each about the kids.
Place: Halloween Night
Time: About 30 minutes in to trick or treating.
I was leading CootieGirl and CootieBoy to a four-way intersection. We’re SURROUNDED by other treat or treaters, and I’m explaining to CG that we are going to stop at the intersection and look for cars before we cross the street (it bears repeating since my kids still tend to be “unaware” of traffic). Just for good measure, I finished with, “Do you understand me, CootieGirl?” She responded with a dutiful “Yes, ma’am.” Upon hearing this, a man nearby with his own children turned to me and said, “I’ve not heard a young child say that in a LONG time – that’s outstanding!” I said a polite thank you and we went on our way.
Place: Our living room
Time: About two hours ago
CootieGirl was asleep on the sofa while CootieBoy played on the floor nearby. He requested a DVD and as he went to put it in the player he accidently dropped it on the floor. His response? “Dude!” (interpretation: I can’t believe I dropped that).
Heh.
YES! Awesome, Cootiegirl! Keep it up!
