The Party

Today at noon the Company’s Holiday Party begins at a nearby hotel. It’s casual dress, buffet food and cash bar. It’s mandatory – if you don’t go you are required to use vacation time for the half-day.

I thought I’d be able to get out of here on time to go to the party, but Mr. Russell came over a few moments ago and said, “I really want to get this done today.”

“This” is his yearly review form that he has bled all over with revisions. It’s a complete disaster and basically has to be redone.

Update at 4:05 p.m.: I got to the party about 12:40 p.m. and it ended at 2:30 p.m. The best thing? We all got to go home at that point! Yee haw! I did some quick shopping and arrived home about 15 minutes ago. I’ll be going down in a bit to wrap up all the Xmas presents that are occupying one bedroom and then go pick up the kids from daycare. Nice…

Hope you’re at the party by now. Have fun. Also hope you can pick up the kids in time tonight. If not, I’ll have to do something about my RE appointment.

The Party

So the party went well on Saturday. It got off to a really slow start since we only have 6 people for the first hour or so, but eventually people started trickling in. We maxed out at 18 guests – half of what we were expecting in total. It was weird to have it be so small since we normally have at least 25 people in attendance.

Supposedly there were problems coming from Manhattan – Cakes and Wifey waited at Port Authority for an hour with two friends of theirs and no bus ever came. I told them to hop in a cab because the bus problem sounded like it was on the INCOMING side as opposed to outgoing and he said, “Too late, we’re on the Lower East Side about to sit down to dinner.” Meredyth and Jonathan’s flight landed a bit late and by the time they got to the hotel it was 7:30 p.m. and J. was sick and didn’t feel well enough to come to NJ at that point. Ericka’s wisdom tooth decided to make an ugly appearance this weekend so she and her boyfriend didn’t come.

So obviously we had TONS of food which everyone seemed to enjoy. The White Elephant game went really quickly since we only have 16 players (two of our guests couldn’t stay for the whole party and left just before we started the game). There was a fun mix of good gifts (a chocolate fondue set) and bad gifts (a wicker frog that stood about 18 inches tall).

The night ended relatively early – the last guest left at about midnight. Cleanup was a breeze – it was one of the most organized parties we’ve had yet, which is amazing considering the fact we didn’t have our regular “helpers”.

Bummer about the cancellations. Be assured that Beau and I will be there for the party in 2006.

Unrelated – your main page won’t load fully for some reason. The template loads, but the posts hang up. I had to click on the date in the calendar to get to the posts.
