So we never found a replacement babysitter last night. Let me just say that I REALLY miss our babysitters from NoNJ. They were reliable and worth their weight in gold with the attention and care they gave to my kids. The ones down here? Well, the sorority girls that were SO great when we first moved down here have flaked out and only one returns my calls now. A girl in the neighborhood that I called a couple months ago didn’t call me back for a WEEK because she didn’t check her cellphone’s voicemail while she was on vacation. The girl who was supposed to babysit last night got sick (not her fault) but said she’d try and find a replacement. By 5:45 p.m. we hadn’t even gotten a call back saying, “We haven’t found anyone.” I mean the job was supposed to begin at 7 p.m.! I got the names of a couple girls from church who babysit and their moms didn’t seem to want to make their girls available – it was like pulling teeth. One said her daughter needed to do homework. Uh…my kids are gonna be in bed about an hour after your daughter arrives. She’ll have 2-3 hours of alone time to do homework at my house.
Anyway, it just pisses me off. When I babysat I made myself available, I showed up on time, I hardly ever flaked out, I always returned phone calls. So needless to say I really miss Tracy, Cassandra, Casey and all the others girls that we used in NoNJ.
So instead of going out, we ordered in. We ordered from the place we thought about using for our poker night, and I’m glad we did because while we like the entrees we ordered, the appetizers were only so-so. So we’re back to making our own food for poker night. Fortunately, only six people are coming over, so we don’t have to make a lot.
And once the kids were in bed we watched The Office, Wednesday’s episode of American Idol, Lost and a show we Tivo’d on Game Show Network about Match Game.
Thrilling, I know.
