The First Night

Last night I went straight to the new house after work. It took twenty minutes. Upon arrival I found the kids running and running throughout the house. They loved every doorway, every light switch, every closet, every potty (CootieBoy flushed each one, I believe), every window, every blade of grass in the backyard. They each showed me their rooms and climbed up and down the stairs multiple times. They love the new house.

Uncle Beau arrived about twenty minutes after I arrived, and we gave him the 10 cent tour. He seemed to approve our house choice. =) After a while we loaded up in the van and headed over to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Both kids wanted to sit next to their Uncle Beau. There was a special trivia night happening at the restaurant, so we played a couple rounds before paying the bill and heading out due to CootieBoy’s obvious signs of fatigue (read: he put his head down on the table and closed his eyes). We dropped Uncle Beau back at the house, where I set up his modest air mattress, table, lamp and rocker in the office so that he’d feel more cocooned in the house.

On the way home CootieBoy threw up – the orange juice he had at the restaurant was obviously too acidic for him. Fortunately he didn’t get freaked out other than a pitiful croaky “yes” when I asked him if he was okay, but just waited patiently for us to get home so that we could wipe him down and get him into some clean pajamas. We got home around 9:15 p.m. and by 9:25 p.m. both kids were in bed without a single complaint.
