The Final Wall

Tape is down.
Lamps are back in place.
Temporary painting put on mantel.

She looks GGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDD…

I admit I’m puzzled by the two bumps that are appearing just above the painting – you can’t see them in real life when you are standing in front of the wall. The previous owners must have spackled and painted over old giant holes in the wall that most likely held the large mirror that was propped on the mantel when we toured the house before purchasing. Fortunately, they will be covered by our scroll when we get that back so I’m not too worried about it.

However, we did find a strand from one of the paintbrushes on the wall and it’s RIGHT in the main light path of the left lamp! We got the strand out with no damage and will now sand it down a bit and repaint that one small section.

No paint came up upon removing the painter’s tape, but we DO have a lot of touch-up spots on the upper white railing and the toffee walls where the paint seeped under the tape.

Update: I’ve gotten a couple emails from people about the cords. Today I ordered a super-long decorative cord cover in dark red and plan on covering the cords so that they are less obvious. The cord I ordered is long enough to cut in two and sew off the ends to then use on two lamps instead of one. It was cheaper to do that rather than order two short ones. I had thought about stapling the cords to the underside of the mantel, but Denis doesn’t want me stapling the mantel like I did at the old house. So the cord covers will suffice!

It does look fabu. Can’t wait to see it in person. And that’s a really interesting painting you’ve got there. Is that new? I don’t recognize it.

Jen – no, it’s not new. We had it hanging in the kids room for a long time until we had CootieBoy and reorganized. Then it just never went back up. The painting is of two kids in the tree with a tiger hanging out on the branches below them. We have a similar painting but it’s kids in a hot air balloon. But that one isn’t framed so I didn’t put that one up yet.

The owners must have spackled over wall anchors. I noticed that right away when you took the scroll down. As you said, you’ll be covering them so no big worries.
