Today after taking the kids to a movie we popped into Fintastic, a local fish store in Ballantyne. We walked around the whole store, oohing and aahing over the fish. I picked out a second peppered cory (I was told after we got home with the original fish that the corys prefer company).
I took a moment to wander through the empty tank section and was shocked when I saw the size of a 10-gallon tank (which was what I thought I had). Upon arriving home we did some measuring and I actually have a 15-gallon tank!
This opens up more possibilities – I can add a few more fish. I’ve added the second cory but will get two more tomorrow. So all total we’ll have 4 platys, 1 gourami, 4 corys and possibly one other fish that can handle being “alone” in a 15 gallon tank.
Also, knowing that I have 150 pounds of water, rocks and equipment on top of CB’s dresser has me a bit worried. So after we’ve paid our property taxes in January I plan on investing in a true aquarium stand and will move the tank when I do a 30-40% water change. I priced them at about $100 at Fintastic and it’ll make me feel less worried about the dresser collapsing. I felt comfortable knowing the tank was 100 pounds – but not so much when it’s 150 pounds. *lol*
