So I attempted to keep the TV off all afternoon after CootieGirl got home from school. It went reasonably well except for a few spats now and again. The non-TV time continued after dinner, with CootieGirl performing Irish jigs for us in the TV room (she’s learning about Ireland at school). At some point we put on music to assist her, and brought out the camera to videotape.
All was well and good – we played for a long time and had fun. Then at some point CG pitched a fit about something and began crying on the sofa. CootieBoy and I were still playing, but at some point he took a running dive toward the sofa – just as CG leaned over to lay down in the very spot he dove toward. Heads konked together.
LOUDLY.
Even Denis heard it from the kitchen area.
Immediately both of them turned beet red, clutching at their foreheads. CB sustained the least damage – he hit head on and has a large lump on his forehead. Unfortunately, CG hit her eyebrow bone, which immediately turned deep blue and swelled up to twice its size.
“I think I have a hole inside my head!” she wailed. “I won’t be able to think anymore!”
We gave ice packs to each of them. After about five minutes CB declared himself miraculously healed, whereas CG continued to play up the sympathy (which included requests for candy to feel better). About 15 minutes after the incident I began quizzing CG to make sure she could think again. She answered all the questions right, so I’m sure she’s fine. I did give her a small dose of pain reliever so that she doesn’t wake up with a throbbing headache. And I’ll probably go in her room in a couple hours and wake her just to make sure.
But yeah, it went from a heap of fun to a heap of trouble really quick.
Youza! Poor things. Good idea to check her as she’s sleeping, along with checking her pupils to see if they are dilated. I’ll be praying.
