Last night it was ladies’ night at American Idol and was it ever a rough night. As suspected, at least half the women were just terrible and let their nerves take over.
I have to say I was mightily impressed with Paris Bennett, who sang Gladys Knight. I was worried that she might not have the chops to do pop stuff, but her performance last night proved me wrong. She was outstanding and has real charisma.
Mandisa also did a great job with her cover of a Heart song. It’s tough being first out of the gate, but she did a nice job.
The other singer I was pleased with was Katherine McPhee, who sang last. I was worried about her song choice when she described it but she ended up doing a fabulous job.
A few were just so-so but still have a chance of getting through. The ones that were truly terrible and need to go home? Stevie Scott – ugh. Just BAD BAD BAD. And Becky O’Donohue. She needs to wear a barette to keep her hair out of her face. maybe that’ll help her improve her singing skills. And song choices – I HATE the song she sang.
Welcome to the Paris bandwagon….can we just give her the title now? (kust kidding)
I thought I was going to turn it off half way through. I am so happy that I own TiVo. We watched it an hour after it was on so if someone was doing pourly (most of them) then I could just fast forward through it. I also fast forwarded through Paula. Sometimes I think she forgets what the show is about. “You look good and you touched my heart” :banghead:
We still agree on everything.
