The weekend isn’t even over, but we’ve been able to accomplish a lot! It’s amazing how much you can get done when you set your mind to it and just DO IT. Be prepared for a long detailed entry here! We’ve done a lot!
On Friday night my goal was to clean out my walk-in closet and make space for one of the dressers from The Kid’s soon-to-be room. There’s just too much stuff in there and we need to empty it a bit to make room for baby stuff like the crib. Also, the closet in The Kid’s room was packed with Denis’ boxes from our move in 2001, and we needed to clean that out so that we can put in an organizer and make it more usable for children’s clothing.
So, after dinner on Friday Denis got to work on his closet, and I got to work on mine. I ended up coming up with a lot of stuff that could go to Salvation Army, and also created a LOT of space. We can actually fit two of the dresser’s from The Kid’s room into my closet now. God bless having a walk-in closet.
By night’s end, we had tossed out a lot of junk, set aside numerous items for charity donation, and were ready for the next step: The Dressers.
Yesterday we did a lot as well. We left the house with the donations in the car but the shop we intended to donate things to was a pure JUNK shop, so we’ve decided to keep the stuff in our garage and wait for the Feb. 26 pickup date that the Newark Salvation Army has for our area. I’ll be calling them on Monday to set that up. Then we drove to Home Depot to speak with a kitchen design person about the cabinets we hope to add to our kitchen. Unfortunately, it required an appointment, so we set that up for Monday night.
Then we drove over to Huffman Koos furniture store and walked through the entire place looking for a coffee table. We saw a GREAT one for storage, but the price for the single coffee table was the same as a THREE PIECE SET nearby! We knew we didn’t want to spend that much, so we ended up going with a nice large coffee table with no storage, but that’s okay – we’ll just get end tables that DO have storage space and we’ll be fine. That gets delivery in mid-February.
After that, we decided to go get some dinner at the Outback Steakhouse in Wayne, and what should have been a 20 minute drive took more like 60 because we kept getting lost. We couldn’t quite remember how to get there, but luckily Denis had a map or else we would have never been able to figure it out. We waited 45 minutes for a table, but it was worth it. We stuffed ourselves on good food.
Got home around 9 p.m., and I popped in my latest Netflix movie, “The Importance of Being Earnest”, which was just okay – not as good as I hoped. Today I’ll be watching “The Time Machine”, which I’ve heard is dreadful, but I thought I’d give it a shot.
Also today Denis is watching football with his pal Ray – I think they are watching it here. So while they do that I’ll set up the closet organizer in The Kid’s room and clean out the dressers. Then once the football game is over I’ll have Denis move the dressers into the closet and voila – we’ll be done with my list of “things to do” for this weekend!
