Swamped Today

With Mr. Russell leaving tomorrow for a week’s vacation he is trying to get a lot done for meetings he has scheduled for next week. This, in turn, means I’ve been swamped with work. Add to that the fact that I have to cover breaks on the reception desk on Mondays and you are left with a very harried Jaynee today.

One project I didn’t mind working on this morning. It involved completely reformatting a 30 page document from scratch. It allowed me to use STYLES and AUTO FORMATTING and an AUTOMATED TABLE OF CONTENTS and all the things I haven’t done since I left The Old Company because the folks around here never do big documents like this (and even 30 pages is kinda small). However, I spent the bulk of my morning cleaning it up and it looks pretty decent and the styles work as they should: like a dream. I just hope no one goes in and messes it up when I’m not looking.

Besides that I have THREE presentations I’m working on, a specialized Sales Logix report Mr. Russell wants, and the new Prospect Sheets that we had a meeting about on Friday.

Ouch! No wonder I haven’t had time for breakfast or lunch today!

Update at 5:10 p.m.: Mare-Bear, you have my permission to tell RJL that I miss his overly-analytical need for documents to be streamlined and clean. I work for the new breed of VLR. Seriously.

I created a really clean looking simple document this morning that was easy to navigate, clearly presented and professional. Mr. Russell has turned it into a nightmare because he has no eye for document design.

Swamped Today

I’m swamped today – Mr. Sutherland is in after his T’giving vacation and he’s going NUTS with work for me! I’ve been on the go since I arrived this morning. At one point my desk was COVERED in paper – it was everywhere. I’ve finally whittled it down to two small items that need to be done and then I’ve completed all his current tasks. Fortunately he goes into a meeting at 2 p.m. for two hours so that at that point I can continue work on the corporate website and the new white paper brochure that Mr. Professor and Mr. Russell want to create.

And I haven’t worked on Mr. Sutherland’s database in over a week – I need to get cracking on that and try to finish it this week. Busy busy!

Update at 3:01 p.m.: Well, I finally cleared my desk AND I’ve finished the website stuff I needed to work on (it’s a simple website but LOADS better than the one they have now). So now it’s on to the corporate brochure for the next hour, followed by Mr. Sutherland’s database for the last hour of my day.
