Speaking of Holidays…

A lot of folks in our subdivision are starting to put up their Halloween lights. The decorating was kind of sparse until this past weekend and now it’s an explosion of orange, ghosties and headstones. Between that and Christmas, it’s a lot of electricity being used. It makes me wonder how many people are being energy conscious and using LED Christmas lights and decorations. We don’t use a lot of lights on our own house, but if I did, I’d make sure they were LED holiday lights as opposed to the regular bulbs lights that make the electric bill so high each winter. I believe that the tree I bought last year for the kids to have this holiday has pre-lit LED Christmas lights on it, which will be great.

In a lot of cases the LED trees can be more expensive, but when you consider that they use 80-99% less energy than standard incandescent lights and will last for more than 50,000 hours then it’s worth the investment. With any luck the tree I bought the kids will last for years and years given the fact that the LED Christmas tree lights will continue working for that amount of time.

As I said, I don’t know that we’ll be putting up any LED string lights this year, although I like the idea of lining our sidewalk leading from the driveway to the house with LED Xmas lights. I think that would be really pretty. Hmmmm….I may have to look into that!!
