Busy at work today! But I do have a few moments to talk about miscellaneous things…
1) Was anyone else surprised during the interviews with the professional dancers that Jonathan (Marie Osmond’s partner) didn’t start dancing until he was 20 years old? I was. I always thought those ballroom people started when they were 5-6 years old (as many of them did). To think that Jonathan found his niche at age 20 gives me hope that I don’t have to enroll my kids in dance classes next year in order to have them be amazing dancers.
2) Speaking of my kids. I think I’m going to put CootieBoy in gymnastics. It makes sense – he loves to run, tumble, and play. The other morning he was walking on the curb and said, “Look, Mommy! I balance!” and he was so pleased with himself. Granted, boys don’t do balance beam, but I’m sure he’d love all the other events that male gymnasts do. And he’s stocky, which also helps.
3) Speaking of CootieBoy. I’m looking forward to taking him to the play on Saturday, but right now his focus is on learning to fly a kite. The other morning we were watching “Berenstain Bears” while getting ready for school, and the episode was about flying kites. I mentioned that we had a kite (we bought it last year) and he got really excited and said he wanted to fly it. Every morning since Monday he has reminded me that Saturday is kite-flying day.
4) Tonight is music practice with the church band. Our fearless leader is going into uncharted territory this week – we’re going to have a HUGE crew on stage for this Sunday’s service. Including two keyboards. Should be an interesting practice tonight. I’m bummed that it is cutting into my “Survivor” watching since not only has the show been great this year, but my online pool has been AWESOME. If I can pull off the coup I’m attempting for next week, then I’m guaranteed a spot in the final four.
My 2.75 year old boy LOVES gymnastics. Our community center has a class and he & his friends from preschool have a blast & we moms love all the energy they burn off!
I know for me, the horrific images of Derek and Julianne Hough rhumba-ing when they were tweens was enough for me to assume everyone was sent off to Ballroom Dance School when they were ten years old.
