As most of you who have been reading Cootiehog for a long time know, back in October 2007 I started doing paid posts with PayPerPost. It has been beneficial in that I’ve been able to earn a significant amount of money – as a result of PPP I paid all cash for Christmas presents this year, and have raised a lot of money for our cash-only vacation to Disney in a couple weeks.
Well, the folks at PPP have started SocialSpark, which is a more interactive version of PPP in that bloggers create profiles so that advertisers can see just who is taking their opportunities. It’s kind of cool in that by becoming more interactive I find that I’m able to get to know the other bloggers who do paid posts. A new blogger that I found through SocialSpark is The Mom With Brownies, who is a homeschooling mother of five who loves frugal living and baking. Her blog is right up my alley and I only could have found her through SocialSpark!
I’ve been using the Beta version of SocialSpark for a few weeks while they work out the kinks, and for the most part it’s a great system. It is completely different from PPP, but despite being slightly counter-intuitive it is a more streamlined site that I was able to get used to very quickly. They still have some kinks to work out – I have two posts that have been rejected despite following every request to the letter. I have the development team working on a resolution right now and hope to have it taken care of soon.
And while I am indeed being compensated for this post, I can honestly say that Pay Per Post and SocialSpark have been an asset to me – both financially and intellectually. I’ve begun reading a lot of blogs which are new to me and I’ve been able to get a headstart on my path to consumer-debt freedom.
Kudos to IZEA!
