So I Guess Prince Is The Only Good Thing To Come Out Of Minneapolis?

Man, did the people on American Idol suck last night or what? I’m not surprised that only 17 people made it through – and even some of those choices were iffy. Only two stood out for me – the Navy guy (who was only slightly better than average) and the girl with dark-curly hair. The Shakira girl was okay, but might get annoying if she gets cocky as the process goes on (hello, Michaela!) But what was even more shocking were the Seattle dregs they previewed from tonight’s episode. Ouch. At the end of the preview I turned to Denis and said, “Okay, we’re never moving to Seattle.”

In other news, if you have seen “American Dreamz” – the Mandy Moore, Hugh Grant, Dennis Quaid movie – can you tell me if it’s worth finishing? I have it at home from Netflix and I saw the first 48 minutes but then fell asleep. Is it worth taking the time to watch the other half? Cuz I wasn’t that impressed with the first half. And I’d rather not waste my time if it truly sucks.

In still other news, CootieBoy didn’t go to sleep until 10 p.m. last night. He and I had a nice battle of wills again in which he tricked me into thinking he had gone to sleep but was actually perched in front of his doorway just waiting for me. More on that later.

Lastly, I rewatched last week’s episode of “The Office” (with the sales calls) and it’s definitely one of my favorite episodes of the season. Can’t wait to see the resolution tomorrow night.

How funny was the kid who insisted on singing Abba and Barry Manilow songs in the scratchy rock voice? I also loved the female Army reservist!

Yeah, I laughed out loud at the rock guy, too. The female Reservist was just okay for me (hello, Randy!) – she will NOT make it to the final 32.

Was it just me, or did they spend way too much time on the weeping losers? I started to think it was a bit cruel — especially that first girl. Turn the cameras off and let them sob in private.

Talmida, Denis said the same thing last night. About 15 minutes in he said, “Wait, isn’t this the VERY FIRST GIRL they’ve auditioned? Why are they wasting all this time?”

But then, if they only let SEVENTEEN people through from Minneapolis, they had to stretch it a bit due to lack of talent!
