So Sad

I only found out today the reason why my TextAmerica.com moblog wasn’t working – turns out they deleted my entire site. But did they tell me? No. I never received notice that it was being deleted.

Turns out that TextAmerica.com went to fee-for-service model. Despite supposedly announcing this last summer, I NEVER got an email notice from TextAmerica.com letting me know. Never got the *chance* to even sign up for service before they deleted my pictures (not that I would have – but I would have exported them and gone to another free service). I had over 40 pictures saved there, including some great ones that I’ll never be able to get back because I deleted them from my phone thinking they were “safe” at TextAmerica.com.

I’m devastated.

I’ve signed up with Flickr (see moblog on the right). I’ll be going through my phone and will upload any pictures I might have saved. But I fear the good ones (camel at Rock Center, Rock Center Xmas tree) are gone.

This same thing happened to me, but with 500+ photos that I had taken over the course of 3 years! The only warning that I know of was a little box on your main admin page that warns about the fee. This is only helpful if you logged in to see it in December. I refused to pay the $99 for a year fee, but I contacted textamerica and they said they still had my photos, they were not deleted! YAY! The only catch was, I had to pay to get them. Luckily, I held out so long that they now have a month-by-month subscription for $8. Do what I did- tell them you want your account back, pay for a month, take back your photos, then drop them again like the hot potato they are. Good luck!
