Hopefully tonight when I get home I will have a fixed skylight in my bathroom. Ever since we moved into the house in July 2001 that skylight has been cracked. Over the past few years the cracking has gotten worse, to the point where a huge piece was resting on the interior screen. After much procrastination I called the skylight company about getting it fixed. The guy is due right about now at the house to replace that piece of glass. I’ll be happy when it’s done.
This weekend I plan on painting the front door. Right now it’s a dark evergreen color and I’ve always hated it. After a bit of debate I’ve decided to buy some red paint this weekend. I have red tulips that come up every year along the front sidewalk, and I plan on planting a mix of red and orange annuals in the front flowerbeds as well, so I think the red door will be really dramatic and nice.
Update at 11:23 a.m.: I just got word that the skylight has been fixed and is good as new. YAY!!!!!
My front door is dark evergreen and I love it (I picked the color). But I suppose red will be nice also. :sarcastic:
Are you going to paint the interior door as well, and also the back side of the exterior door? Remember to think through how it will look from each point of view, leading into each area.
Gwynne, obviously I meant no offense. Part of the problem we’ve had with our front door is that it is under an awning and behind a screen door, so it’s very hard to see the actual color of the door. It just looks blah. My hope is that by painting it red that you’ll actually be able to SEE the door beyond the screen, thus making the front of the house POP a little bit more.
Jaynee, you know I took no offense. :weeping:
I hear ya on the screen door thing. We took off our screen door and replaced it with a clear glass one so the color of the door (because I love it so much ;-)) could shine through…and green is a nice contrast for bricks if that’s what the front of your house is (seems I remember a picture of it somewhere).
No, our house has dingy white aluminum siding with black shutters and the green door. If we could afford a glass screen door I’d do that in a heartbeat!
Ooh, red will look good with the white and black! Never mind about the green.
