Okay. So at my old NYC job my company used Avaya for their phone system. I liked the phone system because it had a lot of options and was very user-friendly. When I left that job and went to The Company in NoNJ I was sad that they were using some antiquated system. However, about two months into the job they announced they were signing up with a new phone company – Avaya. This resulted in my accidently cc:ing everyone in the Company email to tell them how excited I was.
So today at The Firm, the head of HR sent out an email saying, “We’re upgrading our phone system – tell us what kind of options you might like to have.” I emailed her back and said, “I don’t know who you plan on using, but I recommend Avaya.”
To which she responds and says, “That’s who we’re going with!”
I’m telling you, I’m the Avaya pied-piper. Wherever I go, companies decide to switch over to Avaya. They should pay me a commission.
Update at 2:10 pm: The head of HR just came to me and asked for me to be the liaison on the phone system. Basically she’s going to forward me all of the info on the options they can pick, and she wants me to pick out the ones I think will be most effective for The Firm. What’s cool? She said the most important one that they know they want is an email alert when a voicemail is left on the user’s phone. So it seems to me like the sky is the limit on this phone system!!
We have Avaya, but are getting ready to switch to something else. I have no clue to whom and I have no input. Sux.
