Well, I had a garage sale today for about four hours, and it went okay. Within five minutes I had two people arguing over an old guitar that Denis was letting me sell. A guy saw it, liked it, and approached me to bicker over the price. Meanwhile a lady came and picked it up, even as the man and I were discussing the price. She got mad because he didn’t pick it up and bring it to me to haggle over the price.
In the end, he got the guitar and she bought about $20 of other stuff, so I won’t complain. But she went on and on about how she knows that guy and how he’s going to take the guitar and sell it at a flea market for $250. I said, “I don’t think he’ll get $250 for that cheap no-name brand guitar, but if he does, that’s fine by me.”
All in all I made $93, but I’m really surprised that the three dressers, metal computer desk, art deco table/chairs and tv cabinet did NOT sell. I could have easily cleared $250 in profits if those had sold. Oh well – if I don’t give them away to Goodwill I’ll try selling them at the next garage sale I do.
In other news, our new living room furniture was delivered today and it’s great! The coloring goes VERY NICELY with the yellow walls, so I’m quite pleased. I can’t wait for my mom to get here next week, though, to help me figure out furniture placement in the living and tv rooms. What I have right now is just not working and there has to be a good solution that I’m not seeing. The problem with the tv room is that the entertainment center had only one place it could go, so the furniture has to revolve around that, which makes it slightly difficult. I can’t wait to have a big 20×20 tv room when we build a house in a few years – then I’ll have more options for furniture placement!
It looks great! Can’t wait to see it all in person. And would be glad to help with furniture placement. You know me, I love to create living spaces!
