See? I Wasn’t Kidding!

A week ago I said I had run out of things to talk about, and I wasn’t kidding. No posts here in a week. And it’s not because I’m back on Facebook again – in truth, I’ve tried to be diligent about NOT being on Facebook as much as I used to be. And that seems to be working because since my return less than a month ago I’ve only posted 20 times (not including posting the Cootiehog posts) and at least 10 of those original FB posts were from when CootieBoy tested for his black belt and I went a bit crazy with updates throughout the day because it was such a long day.

So let’s talk about random stuff for a bit.

The photo above is of me and Jeff Dye in 2008. I know in the picture I look less than enthusiastic, but from what I recall the lobby of the theater was super hot and I was wearing a sweater, so I was more than a bit miserable. However, I love Jeff Dye. I loved the show “Last Comic Standing” and the resulting tours after each season ended. I liked Jeff Dye when he was on the show and loved seeing him pop up from time to time on my TV throughout the years. The best, however is when he showed up on “Better Late Than Never” on NBC a couple years ago. He travels with Terry Bradshaw, Henry Winkler, George Foreman and William Shatner to exotic locations around the world and they all have such a great time. It’s a fun, fun show and I really hope it gets renewed for a third season. A couple years ago my pal Lori and I went to go see him perform a live show here in Charlotte and we enjoyed it so much we went back the next night, and took Denis with us. Even though the set was pretty much the exact same on the second night, we loved it.

Any long time readers remember when CootieGirl used to take the scissors to her hair? Good times. So glad she doesn’t do this anymore. Actually – I can’t say that. Sure, she’s 15 and knows better, but even a couple years ago I came into my bathroom and found scissors on the counter and red hair in the sink. She had cut her own bangs. *sigh* I really do feel strongly sometimes that she needs to forego regular college and go to cosmetology school and become a stylist.

I’m in the middle of reading “The Andromeda Strain” by Michael Crichton. I didn’t realize it was written all the way back in 1969. I knew it was old, but I didn’t know it was that old. Well, suffice to say – it has not aged well. I’m about 30% in and bored out of my mind. I started reading his books in the 1980s (“Congo,” “Sphere,” “Timeline,” etc.) and honestly didn’t think he’d been around so much longer than that. I remember enjoying “Timeline” tremendously. The movie version of “Timeline” sadly paled in comparison. After this book is done I’ll be listening to the audiobook for “Frankenstein,” which I’ve never read. Let’s hope it DOES stand up to the test of time because I’m not sure I could handle two boring classics in a row.

This weekend I got a new microSD card for my phone. Previously I was working with 32 GB of SD card memory but I’ve given myself 128 GB this time around – should the day ever come that I run out of room on that SD card, then clearly I will have gone overboard saving pictures and videos (I don’t save those to the cloud (no specific reason why although when CootieGirl asked about it yesterday I whispered, “I don’t trust the cloud.” I don’t know if she knew I was joking.)).

And here is where I lament that I have done NO Christmas light programming yet for this year’s light show. I am so behind schedule that I’ve gone beyond panic and into a mild calming zen state of thinking “It’ll all work out in the end.” But if I don’t get going with it, it clearly will NOT work out in the end.

That’s it. That’s all I’ve got for now.
