Last night the four of us were all upstairs playing. For a good 2-3 hours Denis and I ran those kids ragged (Denis was adept at making CootieGirl think there was a monster at the end of the hall, causing MANY MANY tears during the “game”). At some point CootieGirl decided that it was time for her to be the Mom and Denis and me to be her kids. She brought out blankets and pillows and instructed us to lie down in the hallway.
We laid down, got under the blankets, and CootieGirl told us to be quiet. I looked at her and said, “I want to hear a bedtime story.”
She put a finger over her mouth and said very sincerely, “Shhh…no, not tonight, sweetie.”
Needless to say I busted a gut laughing until I had tears in my eyes, all the while she kept saying, “Shhhh…no talking! Shhh! No laughing! It’s time for quiet!!”
As for CootieBoy, he’s just a sweetheart and loves his Mama’s company now. He randomly will come over to me, ask to be picked up, and just place his head on my shoulder. Or he’ll sit in my lap and refuse to let me get up, physically holding me in place so that I won’t leave him. He makes the cutest faces, is the sweetest child (when he’s not in a tantrum), and makes me laugh when he gives himself a timeout for no reason. “I want time out!” he’ll holler as we walk by the steps.
I love your kids, too! Tell them Marmie says ‘hi’ and that I miss them to pieces.
