Church this morning was followed by lunch at Cracker Barrel. Yum. Then we came home and just chilled for a few hours – I snoozed in the recliner while the kids watched TV and Denis watched football in the office. Finally at some point Denis started cleaning, and I eventually joined in. We got 90% of the upstairs done (I still have to dust, but other than that it’s done). We also got about 50% of the downstairs done. The kids were not cooperating though, so the TV room is still a completely disaster area.
Denis also had time to make an apple pie today. The crust is phenomenal, but the apple is a mixed bag – he used a few varieties of apples and it’s discomfiting to eat one sweet bite and then one really really tart bite. My suggestion for next time: one variety of apple, please. The kids gamely tried it but left most of it on their plates.
I gave CootieBoy a haircut today. He moved around so much that there were a few divets in his hair, so I ended up just shaving most of it off. I kept trying to get him to stand still, but it’s hard to get a 3-yr-old to stand still when he’s fascinated by the clippers.
That’s funny. The other time I made it and you loved it, I made it with a mixed batch of apples too. Not sure if it was the same mix, but I did use granny smiths in both. Maybe I went a little heavy on the lemon juice this time. Yes, the crust was good. Impossible to work with, but tasty.
I gave my 2.5 year old boy a haircut a couple of months ago & my husband said he looked like he just escaped from a refugee camp…guess I won’t try that again!!
