Had three issues today with preschool.
1) CootieBoy bit a kid. The teacher called and informed me it was the first time she’s ever had a child bite another child. Great. First place! The bite was unprovoked – she said CB and the girl were playing well together and he suddenly leaned over and bit her.
2) CootieBoy bit another kid one hour later. SCORE!! Two for two! This one, the teacher said, broke the skin. I’m raising a wolf, apparently. The teacher said this one was in the midst of fussiness – CB wanted a toy another child had, and when she wouldn’t give it to him, he bit her. HARD.
Way to start off, CootieBoy. Oh, and both of those events happened within the first two hours of the day. The school called me at 10:15 a.m. with the news. They removed him from the class and took him to the office so he would calm down, and explained that using words was the way to solve an argument, not biting. Obviously tonight and all weekend we’ll be reinforcing that. Again.
3) This afternoon I got a call from CootieGirl’s teacher. Apparently she decided toilets were not necessary when she was wearing perfectly good pants that would suffice for her needs. The teacher could smell it and discovered what had happened and called me. Because, of course, since CG is pottytrained, there’s no need to have extra clothes in her cubby at school. Obviously we’ll be taking in an extra set of clothes tomorrow.
So that’s where we are. Lovely. One kid is a bully and the other is smelly. The new school LOVES US.
I’d say its related to the change of their daily routine/environment. Remember something along the same lines happened when you moved from NYC. I’m sure they will both be fine in a few weeks. They just need time to get adjusted I think.
Providing the kids at CB’s school start wearing long sleeves, I’m sure he won’t draw blood and CG will be fine too 🙂
They’re good kids J!
