So yesterday Stinky was drugged and then heavily groomed to get rid of her massive dreds. When Denis got home with her and the kids she was completely out of sorts and still doped up. When she got on the hardwood floors her back paws went out from under her and she just couldn’t keep her balance.
Since she was so floopy we put her in the bedroom over the garage so that she could safely sober up without fear of falling down stairs or otherwise hurting herself. By the time I got home from music practice she was doing better, but was still mighty ticked at the ignominy of having no hair.
In the middle of the night last night the other kitties decided to torture her a bit and she was cowering under our bed hissing and begging to be left alone. Denis and I got up and scattered the cats and Stinky came up on the bed with us, settling directly between us, which she NEVER does. Usually she sleeps at Denis’ feet, but I guess she felt more protected being up near our heads. She stayed there until the last possible moment this morning and even then she only moved to another part of the bed, where the moblog picture at the right was taken.
She looks good and also a little po’d. 😀
My Ashley gets terrible dreds especially under her abdomen and around her neck. But I find that after a few weeks they get a little loose, and its possible to (gently)pull them off.
Poor Stinky, indeed! Funny how animals make fun of their own when things like this happen to them. Our dogs tease each other after they get shaved also. They always have that humiliated, “why’d you go and do that to me?” look when we pick them up at the groomer’s. 😀
Uncle Bill – Stinky had the opposite problem. Her dreds got tighter and tighter against her skin until it got to the point where we knew a regular groomer would never help her. Thus the meds to knock her out so that the vet could do it without worrying about a wriggling cat. Our other long-haired cat, Mini, has dreds that come out naturally.
