I’m taking a chance that I’ve downloaded more plugins that overload my system, but I have several plugins that I’ve been meaning to upload and decided to bite the bullet and do it tonight.
1) WordPress Automatic Upgrade – oh how I’ll love that plugin. I know it’s not difficult to upgrade, and have managed to get the process down to about 2-3 minutes. But why spend 2-3 minutes when I can spend, oh, 15 seconds? This is a GREAT plugin that will automatically upgrade my WordPress. I just did all four sites in the 2-3 minutes it used to take me to do just one.
2) RSS Feed Copyright – I know I’m probably not getting my stuff stolen, but you never know. This adds a copyright footer to all posts that are read in an RSS feeder. This way if an aggregate website steals my post, the copyright notice will automatically show up at the bottom.
3) Plugin List – I tried doing this before, and had to lose that particular plugin. Here is one from a different author, and it worked like a dream. You can now see my plugins listed on their own page. The active ones show up in white, the non-active ones show up in black. LOVE IT.
4) Amazon Links Pro – I once had a plugin that allowed me to easily link to books and movies through my Amazon Associates ID. However, the author opted NOT to upgrade when the 2.1 version of WordPress came out, and the plugin became useless. This new plugin will automatically link all movie titles, books and tv shows to listings at Amazon. Those links will begin popping up here at Cootiehog in the next 20-30 minutes (the plugin author said it would take 30 minutes for the robot to crawl through my entire site).
Four great plugins that I’m happy to have added. I just hope I don’t wake up tomorrow to find the site down because of exceeded my bandwidth.
Where did you get the automatic WP upgrade plug-in? My host used to have 1-click upgrades from within CPanel, but they don’t offer it anymore.
My last upgrade on my own was rather frustrating. 🙂
Snark – go to the “My Plugins” page and you’ll see it down at the bottom, complete with a link. It was AWESOME. My only quibble – it reactivated my plugins here on cootiehog but did NOT reactivate the plugins on the other three sites I have, so I had to do that by hand. Other than that, it’s perfect!
