Piano Lessons

At some point I want my kids to take piano lessons – heck, I’d even love it if Denis took some lessons. I took piano lessons for a number of years and have played since age 6 or 7. However, the bulk of my piano playing at church is riffing on basic chords. And ANYONE can riff on chords if they want to.

So how cool is this that someone is offering Piano lessons & piano chords for FREE. It’s a weekly newsletter that runs for 101 issues, and each issue deals with a different piano chord structure. For someone who doesn’t want to get bogged down learning how to play classical music, but just wants to learn the basics of piano playing (anyone who knows chords can essentially read charts and play along with other musicians), this newsletter seems like a good ticket.

As a bonus for those who want to learn more, the author of the newsletter offers DVDs with full-scale piano lessons, but those are optional. Maybe I’ll sign Denis up for the newsletter – it’s free, so it can’t hurt to try and see what it’s like.

Uncle Bill – yes, she could. But we can’t afford lessons right now. And right now she’s more interested in gymnastics (which starts up again next weekend), which is cheaper. I’ll probably wait until she’s in first grade and then consider whether she wants to continue with gymnastics or switch to piano (can’t do both).
