So last night Denis and I were up late doing things for the party. The longest task was icing the sugar cookies. But I have to say – they look great.
Jen and Beau arrived around midnight after a long drive from Virginia. Baby Jesse was up and in a great mood, surprisingly.
Around 1:30 a.m. Denis and I finished icing the cookies and hit the sack. However, it was a short night since I woke up around 6:30 a.m. with a massive charlie horse in my right leg. It hurt like a mother, and I had to keep my leg straight up in the air for a few minutes while attempting to stretch it back out. So all day long I’ve had a twinge in my leg when I walk.
This morning’s prep work has been GREAT. Basically – and this is hard to believe given the fact that we didn’t really start prepping until Thursday – we’re done with all food prep. There are a couple minor things to do (we’re starting the meatballs in the crockpot in 30 minutes), but for the most part – DONE!
The main things left to do include polishing the silver (I can’t find my Twinkle polish, so Denis is going to head to the store to get some), pick up the babysitter, vacuum the main floor of the house one more time, wrap my White Elephant gift, color my hair and then get ready for the party.
That’s AWESOME. I don’t think we’ve ever been this prepared this early in the day. It helps that Jen and Beau were here to help – Jen made the Chocolate Eggnog pie for me, and Kevin prepped a couple dishes and helped me re-cover the two dirtiest chairs in our breakfast area (I have enough fabric to cover one more chair, but the concensus was that it would look weird to have three old chair cushions and three new ones).
So let me go grab my new super-wonderful vacuum and get that done before I leave to get the babysitter. Once I’m back with the babysitter I’ll color my hair, wrap my white elephant gift and then start gettin’ ready for the party.
