This weekend we watched a bit of the Robin Williams movie “Jumanji” with the kids. During the big action scenes our children had two distinctly different responses.
CootieGirl would lean into my arms, covering her eyes, squeaking in fear, and sometimes even shivering. During one scene she cried, “I don’t like spiders!” as she tried to basically disappear into the sofa. To quote Denis, “Let the nightmares begin!”
CootieBoy would jump, shout, laugh, point at the tv and generally loved every second of the movie. During the aforementioned scene he yelled, “Spiders!” with a huge smile on his face when he looked at Denis for a similar response.
Why do I get the feeling that CootieGirl will end up with arachniphobia like her mother, and CootieBoy will want a pet tarantula when he’s six?
