Let me preface this entire post by saying I LOVE MY KIDS and WOULD DIE FOR THEM IF ASKED.
But.
Man, there’s something to be said for the idea of having one child. CootieGirl by herself: golden child. CootieBoy by himself: gregarious fun. CootieGirl and CootieBoy together: pinching, fighting, screaming, biting (and not always CootieBoy), and hitting.
Oh how FUN to have the kids “playing” together again.
At some point the kids were pecking at each other and I said to Denis, “And you want another one.”
The noise level alone is enough for me to get my tubes tied. Or Denis snipped.
Having enjoyed the relative peacefulness during CootieGirl’s summer vacation, and witnessed the complete turnaround upon her return, I will begin urging all of my friends (and sister) that if you have one child – leave it alone and don’t have another one. TRUST ME.
Yes, but how great is it that your parents took CootieGirl to
their house for a wonderful visit!!! I think that happened
ONCE for us when our children were growing up. And just so
you know, two boys fight just as much as one girl and one
boy.
Um, given that you are the SECOND child, you should probably be happy nobody gave your Mother and me that advice!
Just sayin’…
*lol* True dat.
We’re having two, Lord willing. They’ll outgrow some of that, I bet.
AHH!! don’t scare me, Jaynee… i’m pregnant with #2 and need to think that it will be all wine and roses!! 🙂
Annie, at times it’s more whine and bruises than wine and roses, but it does pay off in the long run.
It pays off in the joy you receive in seeing your children growing into fine adults; in the joy that comes with more grandchildren being born to carry on their family’s name and spiritual inheritance, and just the amazing joy you experience in having everyone together for celebrations ~ just to name a few benefits. The “whine and bruises” last but a short time, the “wine and roses” last for a lifetime. Be encouraged, Annie! Go forth, be fruitful and multiply!
Nobody told me anything about wine. I’ll settle for just roses right now.
The kids can be troublemakers together, but they do something amusing almost every day.
