Ode to Valentine’s Day

My lovely Valentine surprised me last night. She showered me with a three-month subscription to a gourmet BBQ sauce of the month club. Very nice. We both love BBQ and the sauce will come in handy. This is Valentine’s Day, a time for love and romance, let’s hold off the fights about dry or wet for another day.

But the greatest gift from my love was the sight of her doing the laundry, which again had piled high, partly due to a four-year-old who has regressed to a four-month old when it comes to issues of potty, partly because laundry doesn’t do itself, partly because of math (two adults plus two toddlers equals loads of dirty clothes.)

Don’t get me wrong, the BBQ sauce is going to be mighty tasty slathered on a home-cooked rack of ribs, but Jaynee jumped feet first into the laundry, not literally, without any cajoling, snippy comments, or hourly reminders on my part.

She is truly a changed woman. Let the 30 Days of Laundry begin, my funny Valentine. Smoochs.
