Not My Typical Vacation

While we were at the beach a couple weeks ago, my mom joked that the next extended family vacation should be to Branson, Missouri. I scoffed at the notion, but a part of me admits to being intrigued – after all, Branson is a hot spot for vacationers in this country. I’ve never been to Missouri (other than possibly driving through on our way from California to Virginia in the early 1980s), so I have only my own projections on what the city may be like. As such, when I think of Branson, I don’t think of swanky – but the Hilton Promenade at Branson Landing certainly looks like the very definition! This Hilton features the Payne Stewart Golf Club. And the Hilton Branson Convention Center Hotel isn’t too shabby either!

We’re not planning any family vacations anytime soon, but I have thought about saving up for a “girl’s weekend” of some kind – Branson could be a fun place to go to for a 3-day weekend with a couple of the gals. The Hilton Promenade is offer a “Third Night On Us” special from June to September which would make it more cost-effective.

And there’s no shortage of things to do. There’s Dolly Parton’s “Dixie Stampede” horse show (that comes with a 4-course dinner). There’s the White Water park that features a 400-foot plunge into a pool. The largest Titanic museum is in Branson. And there’s a fun scenic 2-hour railway trainride through the Ozark mountains. Add to that the concerts and shows that make Branson famous.

So yeah, while I scoffed the idea initially, I have to admit that now I kind of want to go to Branson.
