No Strep

I got a call on my cellphone around 5:30 p.m. telling me that I do not have strep. But the doc recommended I continue to take the antibiotics because it’ll kill whatever bacteria is causing my tonsils to be swollen and my ears to be mildly infected (they, along with my ears, hurt whenever I swallow).

My throat felt fine throughout most of the day, but by the time I got home from work I started coughing a lot and now my throat is really hurting. I gargled with some saltwater and took my meds, but I fear tonight will be another restless night for me. Which sucks. Because last night? Pretty miserable.

What a relief and answer to prayer that you don’t have strep!! Hope you get a good night’s sleep.

I’ve never tried it, but you might want to try Tylenol PM.

Let me know how it works.

Tylenol PM is great, but you have to make sure you can get a full 8 hours of sleep. I took one pill a couple of weeks ago and I still felt the after effects for a couple of hours after I woke up.

Did you ask about a possible sinus infection? They can be especially hard to “get to” with antibiotics (you’ll need the super-duper version)and you’ve got all the symptoms I used to get (now, whenever I feel the sore throat and swollen tonsils coming on, I take pseudophedrine to drain the sinuses and it usually prevents an infection).

Praying for a speedy recovery and a relaxing vacation. Have fun!!!

Gwynne, I’m taking 600 mg per day of Omnicil and I’m already feeling much better. Last night I was able to sleep until 4:30 a.m. before waking up with congestion. And once I blew my nose I was able to get right back to sleep.

That is good news! Now, just be sure to take them ALL (voice of experience here ). The problem w/ sinus infections is that they keep coming back, like those birthday candles that you can’t blow out.
