Usually right around this time is when I start talking horses – as in Kentucky Derby horses. That’s right, this weekend is the big race, and since I no longer work in NYC it’s not so easy to place bets anymore. I’d love to put a few bucks down on the race, but it’ll require that I open up an online OTB account, which I don’t really want to do.
But we’ll see. I’ll research the horses today and if I see anything I like I’ll look into opening an account. Or I’ll beg Mare-Bear to run over to the OTB by my old office and put the bets down on my behalf. Although I can’t picture Mare-Bear walking in to OTB all by herself unless it’s to pick up her winnings. She hates that place because it’s filled with sweaty greasy looking old men. Although before big races like Kentucky Derby or Preakness you can always find a few young investment analysts milling around.
Or I can take a quick ride over to see my mom tomorrow morning and stop by the nearby OTB and place your bet for you. Or better still just ask my mom or brother to walk over there and place it for you and we can pay them for it when we see them next. It’s up to you.
